Overview:
The ED Coordinator is responsible for providing and coordinating a broad range of technical and administrative duties to support patient care in the Emergency Department.
The ED Coordinator functions as a resource to members of the health care team and is familiar with multiple Baptist Health Care resources.
The coordinator will carry out all aspects of the job using good judgment and problem solving skills, strong interpersonal skills, and assumes responsibility for self-development within the role and participates in continuous improvement activities.
He/ she will anticipate and respond to team request and patient needs.
Assist with order facilitation.
Non-medication orders may be entered when approved by ED providers or licensed team members during certain situations.
The ER Coordinator must accurately prioritize and complete multiple unit based tasks and projects that include but are not limited to:
Requisitioning and management of forms; ordering and maintaining supplies and equipment; coordinating and arranging patient transfers and admissions; activating STEMI, CODES, and STROKE alerts.
Acts as a liaison between ED providers, ancillary departments, and consulting physicians.
He/ she depart charts in a timely manner to insure proper coding and billing.
The ED Coordinator duties also include supporting managers, team members, and other physicians, to ensure the efficient and smooth day to day operations of the Emergency Department.
The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree One year administrative or customer service experience is required.
Effective communication skills especially in high emotion, high stress, and high intensity situations.
Customer service-oriented and proactive at meeting customers needs.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
Computer experience required Recommended Skills Administration Billing Business Process Improvement Communication Customer Service Health Care Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
